Chicago Sound Revue
Chicago Sound Revue is a Chicago-based live band known for delivering multi-generational entertainment that keeps audiences engaged and dance floors full. With a repertoire of more than a thousand songs covering six decades of popular music, the group performs everything from Sinatra and Motown to Classic Rock, 80s favorites, 90s sing-alongs, and current Top-40 hits.
The band is led by longtime performers Darryl Armistead and Sonja Armistead, whose musical partnership blends soulful vocals, tight musicianship, and a deep knowledge of crowd-pleasing songs. Their performances are built around a simple philosophy: play the music people love and create an atmosphere where everyone feels part of the show.
Chicago Sound Revue performs throughout the Chicago suburbs at restaurants, country clubs, corporate events, festivals, and private celebrations. Whether providing elegant background music for a dinner event or high-energy dance music for a packed room, the band adapts to each venue and audience.
To accommodate different event sizes and budgets, Chicago Sound Revue is available in several formats:
Duo – Ideal for restaurants, cocktail hours, and intimate gatherings. Smooth vocals, guitar, and backing tracks create a full sound while maintaining comfortable volume.
Trio/Quartet – A versatile option that adds rhythm and groove for medium-sized venues and lively parties.

Darryl Armistead - keyboards, Vocals
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Darryl moved to the Chicago area in 2003. He has been a vocalist, musician and band-leader for over thirty years with many different bands that have performed in the Midwest. In Chicago, he has entertained many audiences as lead singer and keyboardist with many area bands. Darryl brings his hot keyboard chops and soulful vocals to every performance!
Sonja Armistead - Vocals
Sonja has one of the most versatile voices in the Chicagoland area. Sonja has been performing for various groups for many years touring with Barry Manilow’s “One Voice Tour”, JoAnn Castle from the “Lawrence Welk show”, The Rick Warren Orchestra, and The Newt Graber Band. Sonja now stays closer to home performing with local bands like The Connexion Band, The Sounds of Soul and other groups doing top-40 dance music for clubs, corporate parties, weddings and special events.
Tony Bussone - Drums
Tony Bussone formally starting playing drums when he was 10 years old. In high school, he studied percussion & performed under the direction of Bruce Mack at the College of Lake County in the Monday Night Jazz Band. This led to performance & tours with #1 UW Madison Jazz Orchestra in 1988 under the direction of Les Thimmig, then a scholarship for drum set performance at the University of IL at Chicago in the early 90’s. There he fell under the spell of Edward Petersen and the Chicago Jazz Scene. Among others he has gigged, shared stages, and recorded with Conte Condoli, Ed Petersen, Ernie Watts, Frank Catalano, Suede Stout, Chris Greene, Michael Hesiak, & Darryl Armistead. He continues to do freelance jazz and theater work while holding down the drum chair for the Chicago OGD and The Reason Why bands.
Greg James - Bass
A bass player with an open mind when it comes to music, Greg is adept at plaing all genres, but prefers jazz, fun, blues and R&B. Starting out as a basss plaer in high school, Greg also played gtrombone while in High School and college, and earned a BA in Music from the University of Washington. He is a former member of the North Shore Concert Band, Northwest Symphone, Highland Park Symphonic Winds, Willow Creek Orchestra, and Skokie Valley Symphone on bass trombone. He has also played bass with a number of area bands, covering genres ranging from afro-funk to blues to jazz to rock and roll. Greg has also studied bass with Paul Merar, and currently teaches bass at Antioch Music. Greg's musical influences include Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke, Roscoe Beck, James Jamerson, Louis Johson, Freddy Washington, Nathan East, Jaco Pastorious, and Ron Carter.
